We collect information you provide when registering (name, email, password), your professional details (current company, work email, bio), job referral data you post, and application activity. We also collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, and usage logs for security and analytics purposes.

Your data is used to: operate and improve the platform, verify your identity and work email, send transactional emails (verification, notifications), display your profile to other users, and ensure platform safety. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

🤝 Data Sharing

We share data only as necessary: with other users as part of platform functionality (e.g., your name and company are visible on referrals you post), with email service providers for transactional communication, and with law enforcement if legally required. We never sell your data.

🍪 Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored in localStorage on your device.

🔐 Data Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All database connections use prepared statements to prevent SQL injection. We use HTTPS for all communications. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

👤 Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at our contact form. You may also delete your account directly from your profile page. We will respond to requests within 30 days.

📅 Data Retention

Active account data is retained as long as your account exists. Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days. Application and job data may be retained in anonymised form for analytics.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using BuddyReferral you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this platform. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and that you have the authority to act on behalf of any organisation you represent.

3. Referrer Responsibilities

Referrers must only post genuine job openings at their current employer. Posting fake, expired, or misleading referrals is prohibited. Referrers are responsible for the accuracy of job descriptions and referral eligibility.

4. Seeker Responsibilities

Seekers agree to apply only for roles they are genuinely interested in and qualified for. Spam applications or misuse of referral links is prohibited and may result in account suspension.

5. Zero Fee Guarantee

BuddyReferral is free for all seekers. We will never charge seekers to apply for jobs or access referral links. Referrers may optionally upgrade to Elite for enhanced features.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You may not: post false or misleading information, impersonate any person or organisation, attempt to circumvent our security measures, scrape or automate data collection, or use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

7. Intellectual Property

All platform content, branding, and code is owned by BuddyReferral. User-generated content (job posts, profiles) remains your property but you grant us a licence to display it on the platform.

8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

BuddyReferral is a marketplace and is not a party to the employment relationship between referrers and seekers. We do not guarantee job placement or referral bonus payments. Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice, at our sole discretion.

10. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
